VSHS eNews Update - January 4/5, 2019

Dear Families,

 

      HAPPY 2019!!!! I hope you have enjoyed the past two weeks with family and friends! I know that our two daughters, although thoroughly enjoying their time off, are ready to return to school on Monday. Most of the information in this eNews update was in my previous newsletter two weeks ago, but I thought I should send this information again as many of the items have important "due dates" that are quickly approaching...

 

 

January Midterm Exam Information

 

Midterm exams will run from Tuesday, January 22 through Friday January 25. Midterm exams are an important component of the overall final grade (12%) and students should prepare and study for their midterms. The second semester will begin on Monday January 28. Many classes will be giving in-class midterm exams the week of January 14-January 18. A copy of the miderm exam schedule can be found at the end of this eNews.

 

Here is some important midterm exam information:

  • students should plan on arriving to school at least 20 minutes prior to the start of their exams
  • morning midterm exams begin at 7:45am. Students have until 10:45am to complete morning exams.
  • afternoon midterm exams begin at 11:45am. Students have until 2:45pm to complete afternoon exams.
  • food service will be open during miderm exams serving both breakfast and lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday 1/25, ONLY breakfast will be served (no lunch).
  • cell phones will be collected by exam proctors prior to the start of an exam
  • students who have extended time accommodations may have an adjusted exam schedule. Guidance staff will follow up with students who have testing accommodations. 
  • if students do not have an exam on a particular day, they do NOT have to come to school
  • if students only have an afternoon exam and need transportation to school, please contact the bus garage at (585) 924-3252 ext. 5710 to arrange for a bus pickup
  • bus transportation from school to home will be available for students who only have a morning exam. Buses will leave the bus loop at approximately 10:55am.

 

 

Dates for Your Calendars...

 

There will be no school on Monday, January 21st in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Midterm exams: Tuesday, January 22nd-Friday, January 25th. 

Second semester begins on Monday, January 28th.

 

 

Victor Softball Camp

 

Registration is now open for the 2019 Victor Softball Camp at Pinnacle Athletic Campus.  The camp is led by Victor and Pinnacle coaches, and will be supported by Blue Devils players.  It runs for four weeks beginning January 10th and is open to girls ages 6 to 12.  For more information or to register, go to www.BlueDevilsSoftball.com or see the flyer at the end of this eNews.

 

 

Senior Trip Updates

 

Seniors going on the senior trip can submit a roommate request form to Mr. Dahlstrom directly (room 223). Forms are posted outside of the room. Deadline to submit is 1/18/19.

 

A reminder from Mrs. Spitzer for seniors going on the trip:

ALL medications(prescription and non-prescription) need signed doctor's order, signed parent consent and need to be administered by a chaperone(Inhalers, Epipens, Insulin and birth control pills may be self-administered with doctor/parent signature) 
•NO medications(prescription or over the counter) with the student/in the room EXCEPT for Inhalers, Epipens, Insulin or birth control pills.

•Chaperones will carry Ibuprofen(Motrin, Advil), Acetaminopen(Tylenol) and Benadryl. Chaperones need WRITTEN DOCTOR's ORDER AND SIGNED PARENT CONSENT FORM to administer these over the counter medications. Obtain and have doctor and parent sign a health form if your child may need medicine for headache, fever, cramps, etc. Have doctor fax form to (585)742-7056.

Please see the medication form at the end of this eNews if your senior will be bringing medications on the trip. The form needs to be filled out in its entirety and signed by a doctor.

Senior Bash Lawn Signs

 

If you would like to order a lawn sign to congratulate your senior on graduating, orders are now being accepted! See the Class of 2019 order form at the end of this eNews for more information on how to submit an order and payment. Thank you for your support!

FLCC Manufacturing Programs - Orientation information!


Attached to this e-mail are flyers for the orientations sessions that are required for theAdvanced Manufacturing Machinist and Mechatronic Technology programs that will begin in the Spring 2019.  

 

The Advanced Manufacturing Machinist program orientation will be held on January 10th, 2019 starting at 9am at ITT Goulds Pumps, 240 Fall Street, Seneca Falls NY.  Anyone interested in the mandatory orientation session should register at www.flcc.edu/pdce and click on manufacturing – the orientation button is right at the top!
