December 5, 2019 NEWSLETTER VSHS Update: Evacuation 12/5/19 Good evening,
I realize you have already received numerous phone calls and e-mails regarding today's evacuation and early dismissal. I want to begin by saying "thank you" to the students and staff for their cooperation, understanding and patience during our evacuation from VSHS. Our first and most important priority is to keep everyone safe. I realize the massive impact and disruption that happened as a result of the evacuation - appointments had to be canceled, lessons and activities were interrupted (or canceled), belongings were left behind in the school, and parents and guardians were thrust into a state of confusion and worry. Please understand that during emergency situations our primary focus is the safety of everyone in our building. Special thanks goes to our Transportation Department, our Food Services Department, and the entire staff at Victor Intermediate School. We will be open early tomorrow morning for students to retrieve any items they may have had to leave behind today. We have also been informed that there is a rumor spreading that there was a bomb found during the search of the building. That is completely untrue. The Ontario County Sheriff's Department and the New York State Police conducted a thorough search of the building (classrooms, lockers, offices, restrooms, hallways, locker rooms, etc.) and there was no trace of anything of concern. Administration accompanied the officers and K-9 dogs during the building search. We will have counselors available tomorrow for any students who need to process through any concerns or uneasy emotions due to today's events.
As always, thank you for your support....
