Do you like making a difference in the lives of others? Are you interested in meeting new friends and having new experiences? Becoming a volunteer for the TIES program could be a great opportunity for you. TIES is a program that promotes the participation of students and young adults that have developmental disabilities participate in school and community events. As a volunteer, you would be trained to support your fellow peers.
As a volunteer you will be making a positive impact on someone’s life. You will have the opportunity to have fun with your peer, develop a relationship and gain a positive understanding of disabilities and diversity. You will have support every step of the way. You will have a support plan that you will follow and you will have regular contact with the TIES Coordinator and your peer. If you are wondering how you will be paired, you will be paired with a peer based on your mutual interests, personal abilities/strengths and availability.
As TIES Coordinator, I will assist you throughout the process of becoming and being a volunteer with the TIES program. If you have questions, I will be there for you. I will also collaborate with your peer, their family and yourself as much as needed to make a successful and fun experience.
Please call or email me if you would discuss the TIES Program further. You can reach me at (585)337-8426. Enclosed is a brochure and an application. Please complete the application and return to my email address or mail to my address which is 6149 Doe Haven Drive, Farmington, NY 14425.
