On June 9, 2020, nine community members will seek to fill three seats on the Victor Board of Education. Two of the seats represent the term expirations of those seats held by Board President, Debbie Palumbo-Sanders and Board Vice President, Christopher Parks. Parks will seek re-election, however, Palumbo-Sanders has chosen not to run again. The third seat opened after former Board member, Michael Vistocco, submitted his resignation on May 13, 2020, two years into his three year term. You can learn more about all of our 2020 candidates on not only this page, but on pages 12-16 of this news magazine.
The three candidates with the highest number of votes win Board seats. Out of those three, the one receiving the least amount of votes will be assigned to the one year term.
On Friday, May 1, 2020, Governor Andrew Cuomo issued Executive Order No. 202.26 which modified the rules under which school districts conduct the election
of school board members.
There will be no minimum threshold number of signatures required for individuals to be placed on the ballot, except that they must meet all other requirements, including applicable residency and age.
Candidates are listed below alphabetically and will be on the ballot alphabetically.

Personal Statement: “Novel” . . . a word that means “new.” Currently, we affiliate this word with the world today and the virus that has touched every part of it. Let’s shift the feeling of “novel” and affiliate the meaning of “new” with some “new” and positive and impactful change to our Board leadership.
With me on your team, you will get transparency, truth, passion. With me representing you, you will get someone who is thorough, analytical, professional and above all else, somebody who is real!
My “real” thoughts are we need to focus on these four key points in our District:
1. A fully transparent and fiscally responsible budget that will sustain us.
2. A shift in our practices around the safety and mental health of ALL of our students.
3. Provide beyond compliant and mandated, exceptional services to ALL of our learners: traditional, 504 and IEP. We are all ONE VCSD family.
4. Access to modern technology for ALL students.
If you want “real” and “novel” change. I’m your candidate. Thank you!

The Victor community is second to none, and we are a community committed to one another. Victor is a “destination district,” because we are a district that honors our past, celebrates our present, and endeavors for our future. We are a community devoted to our students and to one another. Students, teachers, parents, staff, administrators and residents all contribute to making Victor great. It is incumbent upon the Board of Education to ensure this greatness and to place the formation and well-being of our students, the support and development of our teachers, staff and administrators, the safety of all our students and adults, the communication and collaboration with our families, and the transparency with all of those we serve at the forefront of what we do. In short, the Board of Education must be devoted to the success of each and every individual in our great district. We must strive to maintain open communication, to operate with transparency, to facilitate positive change, to embrace accountability, to recognize areas for growth, to seek feedback and input from teachers, staff and the whole community, to face challenges with united courage and to endeavor to be the best. Plainly, we are charged with serving our district with the fullest dedication and resolve. “To Teach, To Support, To Improve, To Achieve!” is not and cannot be just a stated mission. It is and must continue to be the compass that points our district TRUE NORTH. If entrusted with the opportunity to continue to serve our community on the Board of Education, I will once again be guided by and committed to the premise and reality of servant leadership and the desire to “put students first.”
We must listen with open ears. We must reflect with open hearts. We must discern with open minds. We must be purposeful with decisions. We must be Victor.
Together as a school district we are VICTOR STRONG, and I am grateful to be considered to continue to help strengthen the future for all in our district.

My past and current experiences as an educator, VCS School Board Member, active and engaged community member, legislative director, and volunteer provide a rich and unique background to serve on the VCS School Board. Over the years, I have participated in all three Victor parent groups (VOICE, PTSA, and PIE), and have a deep appreciation for the learning differences of each child.
I feel it is critical to view each child as an individual learner, so they can reach their true potential. I feel that it is our responsibility to continue providing a quality education to our children even with the current challenges in public education. The Victor District has lost an incredible amount of school aid while expanding our student population. We need strong advocates for our district, and my legislative background has prepared me to help bridge that gap. Personally, I have a strong passion for the VCS District and would be greatly honored to serve as a School Board member of the Victor Central School District once again. Thank you for your consideration to support me in that role.
