On Friday, November 22 at 7pm and Saturday, November 23 at 1pm and 7pm, VictorJunior High School will present the musical Annie at the JH/SH Arts Center.
More than fifty 7th, 8th, and 9th graders, along with a group of talented student stage crew and pit orchestra, will bring the beloved musical to life. Annie is based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray and is the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Written by Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin, this show features some of the greatest theater hits ever written, including “Tomorrow,” “Hard Knock Life” and “Fully Dressed,” and appeals to audiences of all ages.
Combining both sass and optimism, little orphan Annie wins over everyone’s hearts, despite her difficult life in 1930’s New York City. Determined to find her parents who left her on the doorstep of an NYC orphanage run by cruel and bitter Miss Hannigan, Annie makes many attempts to run away. One lucky day she is invited into the wondrous home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks where she befriends lovable servant characters, Warbucks’ personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and even president Franklin Delano Roosevelt!
With spirited songs, cheerful dances, and a few devious yet comical plot twists, Annie is the perfect family-friendly musical!
Tickets to Victor Junior High’s performance of Annie are available online via the “ARTS” tab on the Victor Central School website. Students are $8, Adults are $12 and Senior Citizens can see any performance for free by selecting tickets at the door about an hour before each performance.
