At the July 20, 2020 Board of Education meeting, the Victor Central School District Board of Education appointed Richard Stutzman to the position of Interim Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Mr. Stutzman will serve as the Interim Assistant Superintendent until a permanent hire can be made to replace Jay Schickling who is resigning in early August to become the School Business Administrator at the Williamson Central School District.
Stutzman comes to Victor with 47 years of experience. He began his career at Mt. Morris Central School where he was a Business Teacher (1973-1982) and Supervisor for Business (1982-1987). The majority of Stutzman’s tenure took place at the Batavia City School District where he served as the Administrative Assistant to the Business Administrator (1987-1994) and the Business Administrator (1994-1998) before becoming the Superintendent of Schools (1998-2008).
Stutzman has held a series of interim administrative positions since retiring from Batavia in 2008. Most recently, he was the Interim Superintendent for the East Rochester Union Free School District during two different periods lasting a total of three years. Mr. Stutzman has also overseen the Human Resources Department, Transportation Department, and was Interim Deputy Superintendent at the Greece Central School District. Finally, Mr. Stutzman spent a year as the Interim Assistant Superintendent for Finance in the West Irondequoit Central School District where he was instrumental in developing a long range financial strategy for the district.
Stutzman said it is a pleasure to be able to join the team at Victor. “I look forward to working with Dr. Terranova, the Board of Education and the administrative team to continue to build on the work that they did this past year to develop a long term financial plan to maintain and build upon all of the great things that have been developed in Victor,” he said.
Mr. Stutzman’s expertise will allow him to effectively manage day to day financial matters, take a closer look at the financial office and its functioning, as well as support strategic financial planning and the development of the 2021-22 school budget. The District hopes to hire a permanent replacement by February 1, 2021.
