On Thursday, December 10th the Board of Education approved the appointment of Monica Macaluso as Interim Principal at the Early Childhood School, effective January 4th. Macaluso replaces VECS Principal, Dorothy DiAngelo who will be leaving her post in January to serve as the new VCS Assistant Superintendent for Personnel.
Mrs. Macaluso comes to VCS with more than 35 years of education experience, primarily at the elementary level. From 1985 to 1997, she served in a variety of teaching roles (Middle and High School Spanish and French teacher and Elementary teacher) for Pioneer Central Schools in Yorkshire, NY. From 1997 to 1999 she served as an Elementary Teacher/Coordinator (Teacher on Special Assignment) for Pioneer Elementary School.
Macaluso took on her first administrative role in 1999, serving as Assistant Principal for the Fred W. Hill Elementary School in Brockport, NY until 2004. Macaluso’s administrative experience continued at Terry A. Taylor Elementary School in Spencerport, NY where she served as Principal from 2004 to 2019 before retiring in 2019. In addition to her extensive experience at the primary and secondary education levels, Macaluso was also a professor in 2019 for the State University at Buffalo’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy as well as the State University of New York at Geneseo’s School of Education.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome Mrs. Macaluso to VCS to serve as the VECS Interim Principal. Her experience and passion for education will undoubtedly serve us well during this time of transition. A full search for a permanent Principal replacement at the Early Childhood School will take place this spring.
