VCS Names New Assistant Principal for Primary School

On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, the Victor Central School District Board of Education appointed Amanda Moon as the new Assistant Principal for the Primary School effective April 12, 2021. Moon replaces Leah Kedley who left last month to take on a Principal position at the Pittsford Central School District. Special thanks to retired VPS teacher Tim DiSanto who filled the leadership post during this transition.

Moon comes to the Primary School with extensive elementary education experience. She has taught 3rd grade for nine years. Currently, she not only teaches third grade, she is also the Grade Level Chairperson in the Pittsford Central School District. In addition, she brings exceptional expertise with literacy and numeracy instruction and has significant experience helping to lead Response to Intervention as well as designing and leading workshops on the Responsive Classroom.

Moon completed administrative internships as a school principal in East Rochester and Mendon Center Elementary School in Pittsford as well as an internship with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction at Pittsford. She also served as a teacher mentor and a supervisor for student teachers. Other notable experiences Moon brings to VCS include being the Learning Specialist for the past eight summers in Pittsford, where her focus was working with students with disabilities and teaching ELA specialized instruction.

VCS Superintendent, Tim Terranova said Ms. Moon’s combination of exceptional instructional knowledge, excellent people skills and her belief that all students will learn are a great fit for the Primary School.

"I am thrilled to be joining the VPS family! Victor Primary seems like a really special place to work, and I feel very fortunate for this opportunity. I am eager to meet the students, staff, and families soon!” Moon said.

Ms. Moon earned her Bachelor's Degree in Childhood and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo and earned two Master's Degrees, one from SUNY Geneseo in Literacy and one from St. John Fisher in Educational Leadership. Her certifications include Childhood Education, grades 1-6, Students with Disabilities, grades 1-6, and Literacy Birth-12. She also holds School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications.
