Sixteen outstanding VHS students attended DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this week! Four students, Andrew Kovaleski, Max Pitts, Connor Doran, and Maddie Pitts, were named international finalists! Maddie Pitts, Max Pitts, and Connor Doran were also named in the international top ten!
Sophomores, Max Pitts and Connor Doran earned DECA glass with a 2nd place finish in the marketing management team decision making event, and Senior, Maddie Pitts earned a $1000 DECA scholarship. This marked the first time ever VHS DECA members earned DECA glass and a DECA scholarship. Overall, it was a record-breaking year for the club!
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools around the globe. The club is recommended for students enrolled (or previously enrolled) in a business class. DECA helps to develop leadership characteristics, self-confidence, teamwork and competencies needed in the workplace.
