VCS Names New Director of Math and Science

On Thursday, July 14th, the Board of Education appointed Victor Senior High School Assistant Principal, Carrie Goodell, as the District’s new Director of Math and Science for grades Pre-K - 12. Goodell replaces Karen Finter, who was recently appointed as the District’s new Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

Goodell has been an Assistant Principal at the Senior High School since 2013. Prior to VCS she was employed by the Marion Junior-Senior High School as a Teacher on Special Assignment (2010 to 2013) and a math teacher (2002- 2013).

Goodell brings a wealth of leadership experience to her new role as the District’s Director of Math and Science. She led the creation and development of the alternative learning model at VSHS, was an administrative representative on the District’s master Scheduling Committee, facilitated a committee of faculty/staff in the development of a local pathway programming model, and worked with departments to identify curriculum writing needs for Special Education courses and online programming. Most recently, Goodell was an instrumental member of the District’s Strategic Planning Team where she facilitated focus groups and assisted in drafting the 5-year plan.

VCS Superintendent, Dr. Tim Terranova said, “Carrie has an exemplary record as a VSHS assistant principal where she not only built strong relationships with students and families but also led the creation and development of the alternative learning model there. Her combination of curricular and instructional expertise with her immense talent for building relationships with all constituents is why I am thrilled to recommend her to our Board of Education as our new Director of Math and Science,” Terranova said.

Goodell said she is honored to take on the Districtwide leadership position. “It has been my absolute privilege to work with the families, students, and staff of Victor High School for the past nine years. I am excited to now change my role and serve the Victor community as the Director of Math and Science. I am very proud of the quality instruction we provide to students, and I look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders as we continue the traditions of excellence and helping all students to succeed.”
