On Thursday, August 18, 2022, the Victor Central School District Board of Education appointed Rob DeRose as the new Principal for the Early Childhood School (ECS) effective August 29, 2022.
DeRose comes to VCS from the Webster Central School District where has been the Assistant Principal at DeWitt Road Elementary School for the past four years. As Assistant Principal at DeWitt Road Elementary School DeRose was an instructional leader who collaborated with the school principal, building leadership, teachers, staff, families, and students to support building and district initiatives. A strong proponent of the district’s vision of “Compassionately Connected, Joyfully Engaged, Always Learning,” DeRose established and maintained a positive school environment for all students, families, and staff. Among his accomplishments, DeRose assisted in the hiring and supervision of faculty and staff, co-led student leadership opportunities with teachers, collaborated with faculty and staff to develop, implement, and supervise effective building schedules, and responded to student disciplinary concerns using a responsive and restorative approach.
Other leadership roles DeRose brings to VCS include being Webster’s Extended School Year Coordinator, an Instructional Specialist for Humanities and Literacy and the Special Education Department Lead Teacher. DeRose began his career in education at Webster where he served as an exceptional Special Education Teacher from 2004 to 2017.
DeRose earned his Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo. He also earned her Master’s in Literacy Education from St. John Fisher College and an Advanced Certificate in Building and District Educational Leadership from the University of Rochester.
VCS Superintendent, Dr. Tim Terranova said DeRose has a great background grounded in early childhood experiences that will make him a valuable member of our leadership team and an excellent leader for our ECS building. “His greatest strength is his collaborative nature and belief that all children will be successful. I appreciate the leadership of the many faculty, staff, and parents from ECS who served on the interview committees that led to Mr. DeRose’s hiring,” Terranova said.
DeRose said he looks forward to joining the VCS community. "I am thrilled and honored to accept a leadership opportunity within the Victor Central School District as the new Early Childhood School principal. I am looking forward to collaborating with our staff, students, and families to make ECS the best school community it can be," he said.
