Weekly Message from the Superintendent

November 7, 2025

Dear Families,

I hope you are all doing well. As we wrap up another busy week at VCS, I have several important updates to share.

First, as I said last week, we are one community at Victor Central Schools. As we enter November, a season of giving and gratitude, I am so grateful for the many organizations that provide assistance and support to our VCS families.

In this spirit, please check out this important page on our website dedicated to helping families find resources they may need, such as food pantries and other services. This is a comprehensive list of services in our area that people can go to if they need assistance. Please also reach out to your child’s school counselor or principal if you have any questions regarding resources.

In addition, a reminder that The SPOT is holding a FREE winter clothing assistance event tomorrow, Saturday, November 8, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, in the Early Childhood School Boardroom. This event invites all students and their families to stop by and "shop" for items they need as we head into the colder months. Registration is NOT required. Simply bring a bag to carry your items home! If you have any questions, please contact The SPOT at: operations@thespotny.org

Second, our Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services, Karyn Ryan, is retiring on March 6th after a 34 year career in education. She spent the past four years as an administrator at VCS. Karyn has given so much to the District while overseeing our pupil services and special education departments. I cannot thank her enough for her commitment and belief that every child can reach their full potential in life. Her leadership with restructuring our special education department along with the development of more targeted programs to support children will be a lasting testament to her time at Victor.

We are posting for the position of Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services today and will conduct a comprehensive hiring process to find an exceptional leader to take over this position. We expect the new person to take over in March and have time to overlap with Karyn.

Third, music and the arts continue to thrive at VCS. Josephine Adams (9th Grade), Jane Escudero (8th Grade) & Zoe Baker (8th Grade) were accepted into the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Honor Choirs in Providence, Rhode Island. They were selected from a panel of over 400 students from across 12 states! It’s an amazing accomplishment for these musicians.

Next week I will talk about the VJH Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which will be performed in two weeks (buy your tickets for the show now), and give shout outs to our student athletes who won sectional titles.

Finally, please note that on Tuesday, students and staff do not have school in honor of Veterans Day. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor all those who served honorably in the military—in wartime or peacetime. We thank all of our veterans for their service and their incredible dedication to keeping us safe!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend. If you have any questions, please reach out.

With gratitude,

Tim
