VCS Honors 2026 Volunteer of the Year

During the Superintendent's Conference meeting on Friday, March 13, the Victor Central School District (VCS) and the Victor Teachers' Association proudly presented the 2026 Volunteer Committed to Service Award to local resident, Kelly Pappajohn.

The annual award is designed to recognize community members who donate their time and unique talents to the district. Whether through a single impactful event or years of dedicated service to a specific student group or school building, the award highlights those who go above and beyond for the VCS community.

Pappajohn is a familiar face within the district, serving professionally as a VCS bus driver. However, it is her extensive work outside of her driving shifts that earned her this year’s top volunteer honor. As a highly active member of both the football and basketball booster clubs, Pappajohn has become an indispensable asset to the athletic community.

Nominators Georgia Turner and Mike Ferreri of the VCS Athletic Department described Pappajohn as an "amazing person" whose dedication to youth and school programs is unmatched.

"Kelly volunteers numerous hours as one of our football booster members," her nominators stated. "She is here early for set up and stays late for clean up. She does so much behind-the-scenes work and is always looking to do more."

Pappajohn’s contributions span nearly every aspect of the student-athlete experience. Her efforts include everything from event logistics and program coordination to stepping up to drive buses for trips on short notice, ensuring students never miss an opportunity to compete.

Perhaps most notably, Pappajohn’s nominators highlighted her selflessness, noting that she often sacrifices the chance to watch her own children compete to ensure that events are properly staged for the enjoyment of all families.

"She is one-of-a-kind and Victor is fortunate to have her," Turner and Ferreri concluded.
